White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said Sunday that he wants Gordon Beckham to spend the entire 2009 season in the minor leagues.
Some fans in Chicago are clamoring for a call-up with Chris Getz about to hit the disabled list. "This kid should play a full season down there," Guillen said of Beckham. "If you see Beckham in the big league, we are in trouble. I want this kid to be a real big-league player. I don't want him to come here and fill up a spot, and then go back to the minor leagues."

What are the odds that Ozzie doesn't really know what he's talking about? I'll bet anyone that Beckham is in the big leagues before the year is over. Getz has a broken bone in his finger, Lillibridge is young and terrible, and Nix is old and terrible.
Fuck. Now both pickups don't look good.

Indians manager Eric Wedge downplayed the idea Tuesday of promoting scorching prospect Matt LaPorta from Triple-A Columbus.
LaPorta boasts a .381/.452/.730 line in 63 at-bats thus far and would be an immediate upgrade on left fielder Ben Francisco, but Wedge isn't ready to make a change. "The reality is that the people here are the ones who have to make the difference for us," he said. "LaPorta is so young, just out of college. He's off to a good start, and his day will come.""
You should probably just go ahead and drop LaPorta, right now.
