Positive numbers are teams that are hitting focused, while negative numbers are teams that are pitching focused. Amazingly, despite having Teixeria and A-Rod, Spencer still tilts towards pitching. This is mostly an artifact of his extremely weak middle infielders (Casilla, Izturis, and Punto). Taylor, on the other hand, tilts towards pitching because of an unbelieably strong staff, with the top two closers and two upper tier strikeout pitchers, in Greinke and Kazmir. Mark's team is the most offensive (you would thought it would be Spencer, what with A-Rod and all), but that is because of a very weak pitching staff (projected 12 points out of 40), finishing in the bottom two in all pitching categories but wins and ERA. We'll see how the other projections treat Mark's team, but ESPN hates his pitching staff.
Congrats to Kate for putting together the most balanced team (and projected to be reasonably competitive as well), with only a one projected point of difference.

Interesting analysis... My belief is that pitching staffs can be built throughout the season but dominant offenses cannot. Plus, pitching projections are much less reliable (and prone to injury) than hitting projections. While I really didn't want to be THIS unbalanced, I'd rather be on this side of the difference. It will be interesting to see how it pans out for me on the one side and taylor at the opposite end. Certainly, I'll need to find saves somehow but considering I only counted 4 "safe" closers (Papelbon, Nathan, Rivera, Soria) I figure there will be a ton of turnover in that position again this year.
I am projected to get more than 15 points?
You're not even projected to finish last. ESPN projects you to end up with 39 points, while Andrew is projected to finish dead last, at 32.
Wow, ESPN hates Andrew. Must have been all of those terrible picks.
wow really? Didn't Andrew have great keepers?
There are only so many picks that completely suck balls that you can make before you drag your team down.
Caleb - you did pretty well for yourself, projecting 3rd overall. Guess they didn't all suck balls.
can we just post the full projections already? what is the delay?!?!
I'm surprised that I lean towards hitting after keeping Beckett, Matsuzaka, and Santana. I guess the rest of my pitching staff is pretty weak though.
I of course spent many hours of prep to get my team this balanced. You can't pay for this kind of balance. It's something you are born with.
Mark being unbalanced? Surprised, I am not.
