Yesterday, Monday, the day after we set our weekly line-ups, three things happened:
1) Gary Sheffield pulled an oblique muscle after 2AB's in his game vs. the angels.
2) Scoscia revealed that Figgins may have to go on the DL.
3) Wedge revealed that Hafner might have to go on the DL.
Now all of these are injury prone players, but it's total BS that I will now be missing another week's worth of AB's because of the timing of this news. I know we all have to deal with it, but it doesn't necessarily even out. I guess the lesson is that injury prone players hurt you even more in this type of league. But this seriously must be the 9th or 10th time this season someone has gotten hurt (or revealed they won't be coming back as planned) on Monday or Tuesday (Ellis and Kendrick being 2 other recent examples).

I've forgotten to change my lineup two weeks running, because during finals I completely lost track of what day of the week it was. I missed out on Eveland's last start because of it, and have had Santiago Casilla sitting in one of my P slots while on the DL (which might not be a bad thing, since I'm projected to be way over the IP limit).
It's annoying. If I forgot to check in and make changes in a daily league, it would only hurt me one day at a time. I do know, though, that when I start clinical rotations (right around the start of the next baseball season), I won't even be logging into Yahoo on weekdays.
And now dice-k is hurt. This is really just getting humorous
it is pretty easy to see how bad injuries have hurt each team by looking at the games behind pace. For instance, caleb is 44 games behind and 35 innings ahead. meanwhile, spencer is 104 games behind and 22 innings behind. that 60 games differential(approx 200 at bats) make a big difference.
And now Troy Percival is hurt. Just a terrible run of luck for Spencer. That said, Figgins, Sheffield, Percival, and Kendrick were all high injury risk players coming into this season. Although, I imagine Spencer is ready to kill Mike Scioscia at this point, after having been jerked around on Figgins and Kendrick all season.
One thing I started doing after missing a couple weeks of roster adjustment (once I outright forgot and another time I logged in at 12:30 Pacific, a half hour too late), is simply adjusting my lineup right away when a player got hurt or a trade went through. But that doesn't really help with early to mid-week injuries.
I can't get on Yahoo at work and thus I am certain Wheeler is gone. I actually was listening to the game on XM when Percival went down. Maybe someone already has Wheeler, but I think we should consider using the waiver wire for Monday through Friday pick ups. Not sure what options we have through yahoo, but it always annoys me that when a closer goes down and whoever happens to be closest to a computer (without a firewall) gets him. As it stands now, the waiver wire priority is useless.
speaking of injuries:
"Manager Jim Leyland said Tuesday that Carlos Guillen "has been playing with hemorrhoids that probably need to be lanced."
Lovely. "He can hardly move, he's got hemorrhoids so bad," Leyland said. After starting at third base Monday, Guillen moved to designate hitter Tuesday. Normally we'd make a joke here, but anyone who has his boss literally telling newspaper reporters about his having "hemorrhoids so bad" probably deserves some kindness. Next time someone opines that baseball players are overpaid, bring up that point.:
Hmm, I sense another upcoming age scandal where we find out that Carlos Guillen is actually 65, instead of 32.
