Traded to the NL

One thought about the trading to the NL problem...it's not much of a fix, but I do think it makes sense and have read about it being used in other leagues - if you're player gets traded to the NL, then you get the right of first refusal on whoever is traded into this league. Sometimes the minor leaguers that come back won't be that interesting, but at least then Luke could have gotten Salty when he lost Texiera, etc.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure that is a good idea. It could be severely unbalancing, and how would we solve big trades that involve more than one player? Do you really think that I should have had the first crack at players coming to the Tigers because I had Cameron Maybin?

yeah i guess that's true, i hadn't thought about an AL team trading prospects for big NL players...guess we'll just leave it as is.

Hmm, I know lots of leagues do have this rule in place. But we could probably set some rule about where a player was drafted (say in the first 10 rounds or was a keeper) or if someone is in your starting lineup in order to prevent turning Maybin into Cabrera.

I wish you could just keep the stats rolling if a player was traded mid year but yahoo doesn't do that.

Getting prospects in return for a starter isn't much of a help. If I got those Cubs players, I would probably just have to drop them all anyways b/c of the small bench size.

If it was the other way around - if someone like Ian Kennedy was in a deal for Brandon Webb, bill would get a huge lift.

My feeling is that the first scenario is going to be grossly undercompensated no matter what system we use and the second scenario is going to be grossly overcompensated if we change...So I guess I'm in favor of keeping things the way they are now.
