I have to admit that I'm completely ignorant about everything that took place leading up to the 94 strike, so I can't say much about that.
I do know, however, that Selig presided over the MLB in the 90s to early 2000s, when steroids were supposedly banned but the ban was in no way enforced. That's the most corrupt possible approach that the league could have taken, and Selig is responsible for it. I don't blame the players at all for using PEDs during that era, even though they were violating the so-called rules. Selig and MLB are responsible for everything that happened during that time.
Not that I really mind much seeing A-Rod get suspended or banned. But before suspending anybody, Selig owes the players an apology for years of a corrupt policy that created an enormous moral hazard for all the players.
