Really? My confrontational anteater was directed at you and Luke both, despite his frat-boy-like use of "BRO." Sure, Luke now has possibly the five best hitters in the league right now, but he also has a number of holes, and my team is falling apart around me. Or at least it feels like it is. Plus, you just took me for a ride on Alex Rios.
Hey! The boat is coming back to port! By not having Pujols, i feel like it is conceivable I can make up ground in hitting.
Basically, with Luke adding Cabrera and Pujols I felt like I was shut out of a ton of hitting gains. Sale definitely gives Luke a shot to gain ground in pitching, but now I feel like I can gain in hitting, too.
That last trade was a tough decision. I think I had to make it, because there was a possibility that my pitching just completely fell apart otherwise. Worst case scenario, Lester keeps sucking, Broxton and Liriano get traded to the NL, Phelps never starts again this season, and Oswalt goes to the DL. THat would've left me with only Price and Rodney.
However, if my pitchers could've at least held it together, I think Pujols would've given me a legitimate shot at finishing in first in all 5 offensive categories. Still, that wouldn't have mattered if my pitching just went completely off a cliff.
I think Sale will make it to 200 innings. CJ Wilson pitched 200 innings his first season after being converted from a reliever to a starter, and he seems fine now. The White Sox are in contention, and GM Kenny Williams says:
"It is our expectation that because we have been diligent in his care and he works his tail off in between starts, he will be strong and able to go every fifth day in September for what we hope is a playoff push,"
I'm not even sure if Teix and Arod are much of an offensive upgrade over Dunn and Moustakas. Certainly it's an improvement in batting average, but it might be a wash in the counting stats. Arod and Teix have combined for 106 R, 33 HR, and 108 RBI, while Dunn and Moustakas have 103 R, 44 HR, and 115 RBI. Arod will steal some bases though, so that helps.
Bringing in Peavy and Hernandez is monstrously good for Bill though. Peavy, Hernandez, and CC in the same rotation is scary good. Add on to that 3 good closers, Kuroda, and Hughes, and I think Bill has a shot at first in each pitching category.
Teix and A-Rod are definitely upgrades over Dunn and Moustakas. Part of it is definitely the lineup, but the average difference is massive. Plus, Teixeira and A-Rod have a lot higher upsides than Dunn and Moose.
God fucking damn it. You know what isn't an offensive upgrade? Dunn and Moustakas for Teixeira and A-Rod with a broken hand. Out 4-6 weeks two days after I trade for him.

OK, four best hitters, and a guy who might get shut down next month.

Oh, and I'm also 13.5 points behind you, compared to 7.5 for Luke.
This clip would've been more appropriate if I had held on to Pujols:

Also, I'm counting on much better second halves from Hosmer and Santana, but we'll see if that really happens.

Ouch. And I just lost JPA for 6 weeks. Anybody want to send me a catcher?
