The best trade you didn't make

I thought it might be interesting to see what the best trade that you had turned down in the league. Since I'm pretty active in trade discussions, I've definitely turned down a few that would have been awfully good, but the deal I was discussing with Taylor before last year's draft certainly takes the cake. I would have traded away my 3rd round pick (who ended up being Joakim Soria) and Alexei Ramirez for Taylor's 1st round pick (#1 overall, so it would have been Mark Teixeira) and Zach Greinke. That one would have stung an awful lot if I hadn't won last year. This year I've managed to turn down Rios for Sizemore, as well as a deal centered around Cano for Sizemore and Smoak.

How about me dropping Smoak? I think my team is cursed now. I won't win the championship until 2004.

Well, dropping Smoak certainly SEEMED like a terrible decision at the time, but after 300 AB with a .200 average and an OK, but unimpressive 10 HR, it doesn't seem like such a big deal any more.

Did I really offer you Rios for Sizemore straight up?

But the dropping of Smoak was bad because everyone was still high on him, and he could have been used as a trading chip.

I thought you did, and I told you it wouldn't be enough to get him. I guess my point about Smoak is by the time folks started dumping, the shine was pretty clearly off of him. On the bright side Kate, you can pick him up now!

Exactly (to Andrew's comment).
Ha- I am thinking of picking him back up. If he does eventually become a superstar then it will be a great success story for All Night Longoria.

Andrew offered me Pedroia for Ellsbury a day or 2 before Beltre kneed him in the ribs. I turned it down.
